Synopsis
Wild Tamil Nadu that reveals the extraordinary biodiversity of Tamil Nadu, a spectacular region of India where rain forests, reefs, and deserts meet in one of the most unique ecological landscapes on Earth. Wild Tamil Nadu explores the region through the lens of its five classical landscapes — mountains (Kurinji), forests (Mullai), croplands (Marutham), arid zones (Palai), and coasts (Neithal). These poetic classifications, written over 4,500 years ago, remain relevant today as guides to the state’s profound environmental diversity. This documentary journeys through these living ecosystems, home to majestic icons like elephants and leopards, as well as overlooked wonders like fireflies, lion-tailed macaques, and the elusive Madras hedgehog. Blending natural history with rarely told stories from the wild, the film reveals a vibrant portrait of biodiversity and coexistence in India’s southernmost state.
